3 Step Semi-free Sparring (Ban Jayoo Matsoki)
If you are a green belt you need to know basic 3 step semi-free sparring |
BASIC LEVEL
Attackers start in right or left ‘L’ stance in middle forearm guarding block. They will then perform 3 kicks.
Defenders start in parallel ready stance and finish with the COUNTER of a reverse punch.
ATTACK: (Kick with the leg that is behind you and
then alternate legs)
Front kick, side kick, turning kick.
DEFENCE: Any block that will be
suitable to block the kick from the attacker.
COUNTER: Reverse punch.
(Tip; the person that is defending is the only one to perform a Counter attack)
If you are a blue tag
you need to know intermediate 3 step semi-free sparring |
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Attacker start in right or left ‘L’ stance in middle forearm guarding block. They will then perform 3 kicks.
Defender start in parallel ready stance and finish with the COUNTER of any hand technique.
ATTACK: (Kick with the leg that is behind you and
then alternate legs)
Front kick, side kick, turning kick or reverse side kick in ANY order.
DEFENCE: Any block that will be
suitable to block the kick from the attacker.
COUNTER: Any hand attack.
(Tip; the person that is defending is the only one to perform a Counter attack. Think of attacks you use with the hand in your patterns and use some of these.)
If you are a blue belt you need to know advanced 3 step semi-free sparring |
ADVANCED LEVEL
Attackers start in right or left ‘L’ stance in middle forearm guarding block. They will then perform 3 kicks OR 3 hand techniques (must be the rear hand though).
Defenders start in parallel ready stance and finish with the COUNTER of a hand or foot technique, which may include jumping kicks.
ATTACK: (Kick with the leg that is behind you and
then alternate legs)
Perform ANY kick. (Jumping techniques are not allowed as an
attack move)
DEFENCE: Any block that will be
suitable to block the kick or hand technique from the attacker.
COUNTER: Any hand or foot attack.
(Tip; the person that is defending is the only one to perform a Counter attack. Think of attacks you use with the hands and feet in your patterns and use some of these)
(AFTER BLUE BELT YOU ARE EXPECTED TO REMEMBER BASIC, INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED - SO MAKE SURE YOU PRACTICE REGULARLY. You could be asked at any grading afterwards to perform them)
